Microsoft Discontinues Legacy Live@edu/Hotmail
On Thursday, March 1, 2012, Microsoft discontinued support for its legacy Hotmail platform, on which the UVa Microsoft Windows Live@edu email service was based. If you had a Live account, your UVa email messages have been automatically rerouted to your (new) UVa Gmail account.

  • Complete Communication Package: A complete suite of online communication tools in addition to email, including integrated instant messaging (IM), online document sharing, calendaring, Web publishing tools, and more.
  • Modern, Sophisticated Email: Modern and user-friendly user interfaces, and students and alumni have large storage space allotments.
  • UVa Email for Life: Students in the Classes of 2006 and later retain their UVa email address, messages, and account for life. Upon leaving the University, their messages and folders are preserved.
